There are a number of Protected Structures within Grangegorman SDZ. The specific site of the proposed development is located on the western side of Grangegorman Lower, east of The Top House Protected Structure (RPS No.3282) and south of The Laundry Building Protected Structure (RPS No. 3287). No works to any of the protected structures is proposed as part of this application. The development will comprise the construction of the Central Quad – a 5 to 6 storey third level educational building (with basement, roof plant, accessible roof area and terraces (south and west facing at 1st to 4th storey)). The building will include classrooms, lecture rooms, laboratories, workshops, studios, culinary art facilities, meeting rooms/areas, exhibition areas, cafe, staff accommodation, service areas, store rooms, delivery areas, plant areas, security, foyer and circulation areas, WCs, and all ancillary areas. Covered bicycle parking (202 no. spaces). Provision of new landscaped areas including modifications to the Site Infrastructure & Public Realm (SIPR) permission (DCC Ref 3373/12) and incorporating permitted external signage and permitted uncovered bicycle parking. All associated site development works and services provision. Total gross floor area of the proposed development is approx. 35284 sq.m.
