The refurbishment and extension of Macroom Community Hospital. The proposed development consists of
(i) refurbishment of the existing 38-bed single-storey hospital block, including alterations to existing elevations,
(ii) change of use of and refurbishment of the existing dental clinic block, and
(iii) a single-storey new extension linking the 2 buildings. On completion, the building will provide 38 bed spaces in a refurbished hospital building, arranged around 3 no. courtyard gardens. The development includes: -Existing floor area of 868 sq.m will be refurbished, and the new extension will be 1645 sq.m ; total development gross area is 2513 sq.m. -Change of use of existing dental clinic (100 sq.m) to community hospital use, -14 no. refurbished bed spaces, -24 no. new single bedrooms added in a single-storey extension, -Communal spaces including recreation, sitting and dining rooms, -Ancillary areas including reception, offices, staff areas, stores, treatment rooms, sanitary facilities and plant rooms, -Existing kitchen is retained and extended, -Existing floor area of 84 sq.m will be demolished as part of the development, -External works include a new service yard with waste compound, new fencing and associated siteworks.

The Health Service Executive now propose a new extension, with and including internal alteration and refurbishment works to comply with statutory regulation SI 415/2013 and SI 293/2016 at Macroom Community Hospital.
Accommodation comprises 22nr new build single occupancy bedrooms, 1nr new build double bedroom and 14nr refurbished beds all with ensuite facilities, residents family room, residents and visitors meeting room, ancillary support rooms, dinning room, store rooms, dirty utility rooms, changing rooms, recreation rooms, assisted bathroom, treatment room; Internal refurbishment of existing ward accommodation, ancillary support rooms, together with upgrade works to fire alarm system, emergency lighting system, general lighting and water services; together with and including external and ancillary site works.
