The proposed Belfast Transport Hub involves the redevelopment of the Europa Bus Centre, Great Victoria Street Railway Station and surrounding NITHC land (c20 acres) at Grosvenor Road. Translink is proposing to develop the entire site to include an integrated transport hub, engineering facilities, bus parking, an office building for the Translink group and approximately 1 million sq ft. of mixed use development.
The Transport Hub will provide two additional platforms for the Belfast – Dublin Enterprise service, space provision for additional tracks for a proposed future Great Victoria Street to Adelaide line and additional platform capacity. The Hub will provide up to 26 bus stands (for Translink and private operator services), a six-bay maintenance facility, an integrated concourse serving bus and rail, transport interfaces, a c220 public car park and office accommodation for c380 Translink employees. The proposed Hub will be of sufficient capacity to provide for anticipated growth from the present 6.7m passenger journeys through the facilities to c13m by 2030 (the current bus and rail facilities exceed the capacity for which they were designed).
